927th Air Refueling Wing AFRes Selfridge ANGB, Michigan KC-135E 63rd Air Refueling Squadron

The unit was established in February 1963 and operated the C-119 at Selfridge AFB as the 927th TCG under the control of the 403rd TCW. The 927th was redesignated as a Tactical Airlift Group in July 1967 and converted to the U-3A as the 927th TASG in 1969. The unit reverted to the 927th TAG designation in June 1971 when it re-equipped with the C-130A. The group was transferred to the 459th TAW in March 1976 until early 1985, when it moved to the 440th TAW and then converted to C-130E shortly afterwards. The 927th deployed to Sharjah, UAE for Desert Storm and was assigned to the 1650th TAW (Provisional). The unit switched from airlift to air refueling role with the KC-135E assigned in 1992.
